Kataragama final perahera today
The final Perahera of the Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya will be held today. Alms giving at the Basnayaka Nilame’s residence and exhibition of the tusks of Kadol elephant that belonged to King Dutugemunu were held on August 12.
The fire walking at the Kataragama Maha Devalaya premises and the 12th Perahera were held on August 18. According to the Basnayaka Nilame about 50,000 devotees arrived on PadaYathra at Kataragama Sylvan Shrine from the North and East. They were provided with all the facilities.
The first perahera was held on August 7. The Esala festival will come to an end with the water cutting ceremony at Menik ganga tomorrow.
